Our site has been modernized to allow for a more advanced video player, larger images, and more flexibility for us to highlight the news in your community. Below, we’ve answered some of the most commonly emailed questions and concerns about the site. If you have a question, contact us through our Interactive Viewer Center by clicking on Feedback.


Why does your site take so long to load?
Our new site is designed to be very rich in multimedia. If you have an older web browser, IE 7 or prior, you will experience faster load times by upgrading. The newer browsers are designed to process sites that are rich in multimedia faster than the older versions. There's a list of links to download the latest version of the five most common web browsers at the bottom of this page.

Help? It takes a very long time to load your website. I am getting stack overflow errors and out of memory errors after waiting a very long time for the page to load.
If you are using security software on high settings, you may be seeing error messages that say “Stack overflow at line: 105” followed by “Out of memory at line:69”. These error messages are due to your security software blocking our site from getting you information that it needs to display correctly.










To correct the problem you will need to tell your security software that we are a safe site.

If you are using Computer Associates Security Software, open the CA Personal Firewall application. Go to your Start button then Programs --> CA --> CA Internet Security Suite --> CA Personal Firewall --> CA Personal Firewall. This will launch the Firewall application.

Click on the Privacy button on the left side of the window. Now click on the Manage Sites button that appears on the right side of the window.





In the Manage Sites window click on the Add button.





In the URL field type: rochester.YNN.com
Click the OK button.




Help. I can’t get the video to play on your new site.
YNN Rochester’s redesign allows for enhanced video that is compatible with more computers. The new video player requires Flash player 9 or later. You can download and install the latest version of Flash player by visiting http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. The page lets you know what version of Flash player you have installed and will allow you to download a free upgrade.


I'm having trouble viewing your site. It looks like the page didn't finish loading.
If you are using an older browser, you may have trouble viewing our site. Upgrading your web browser will enhance your viewing experience.

To check which version of IE you’re using go to the “HELP” menu and click on “ABOUT INTERNET EXPLORER”. You can download a free upgrade by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx.

When I’m at work I like to check in and read your stories. I don’t want the sound playing while I’m working.
Our new site allows you to both read and watch most of our stories. If you visit the homepage and click on any of the thumbnail images, or the “Play Now” button, you'll be taken to the story page and the video will start playing automatically. However if you click on the headline itself, the video won't play and you can read the full text of the story directly below. That way, you can access our stories at work or whenever you don't want to bother the people around you.
