Based in our newsroom at 71 Mount Hope Avenue since April 1990, our Rochester staff reports on news and sports from greater Rochester, the Finger Lakes and the Genesee Valley around the clock.
Viewers from the early ‘90s will recall our news departments’ first two names included the cable company’s name at the time (GRC/Greater Rochester Cablevision). From 1990-1992, we were known as WGRC-TV and produced Rochester’s first 10pm newscasts in the city’s first computerized newsroom. From 1992-1995, were known as GRC9 and we added Rochester’s first 7pm newscasts, featuring anchor Virginia Butler who continues to anchor on Time Warner Cable News.
Virginia is now joined by Scott Patterson, Casey Bortnick, Jennifer Auh, Katie Morse and Alex Haight on the anchor desk throughout the week.
Our Sports anchors Kevin Carroll and Andy Young provide local sports updates at :15 and :45 past the hour.
Watch for Your Traffic reports with Mike O’Brian weekday mornings and Alicia King weekday late afternoons.
We began producing 24-hour local news on July 4, 1995 known as R News, a name we carried until August 2009 when we changed to YNN, Your News Now.
The station changed its name to Time Warner Cable News on December 16, 2013. All of the company’s news channels across the United States will now carry this name to more easily identify us as a local programming channel available exclusively on Time Warner Cable.
Our veteran local staff behind the scenes and in the field continues to provide you news important to you, our cable customer viewers in 200+ towns, villages and cities in a 15-county area that stretches from Monroe County south to Allegany County and eastern Erie County east to Cayuga County.
